Using our Gifts to Serve

Take a Spiritual Gifts Assessment

All people are created by God with unique skills, gifts, personality, and passions.  We all have something to offer, and something to receive, in working together toward common goals.  Browse the list to find a ministry you might like to try. 

Communication
Help us stay connected to our congregation and community by publishing our events. 

  • Create fliers and brochures
  • Connect with local venues for publication
  • Work with our website and social media.

Small Groups
Help adults grow in discipleship by opening your home to a Bible study or interest group.  Training and resources will be provided.

  • Host a group in my home
  • Lead a small group

Cooking/Baking
Offer your culinary skills to help with any of the following:

  • after-church refreshments
  • celebrations
  • funeral luncheons
  • meals for sick and bereaved members
  • care packages for students
  • fundraisers

Church Grounds & Building
Use your skills and talents to help maintain our church buildings and grounds. 

  • Gardening & landscaping
  • Routine repairs
  • Professional services (eg. plumbing, electric)

Working with Children
Help our children grow in discipleship and learn to share their faith.

  • Teach or assist in Sunday School
  • Serve in summer VBS program
  • Lead Children’s Church during worship
  • Help in the cribbery
  • Lead children's choir and/or pageants

Member Care
We strive to provide care for every person in our church.  Your involvement can make a big difference for someone who is lonely, sick, or simply feeling disconnected.  Here’s how you can help:

  • Pray for those who are on our weekly prayer list
  • Drive someone to appointments, pharmacy, or grocery store as need arises
  • Visit an elderly member on a regular basis
  • Drive someone to church

Prayer Ministry
Pray regularly for our church, its members, its mission and ministry.  Organize a prayer group that meets weekly to pray for our church.

Welcome
Greet first time visitors & offer information
Invite first time visitors to participate in church activities.
Make a phone call to a first time guest as needed
Write a note to a worship guest

Serve in Worship
Liturgist: read scripture and prayers during worship
Usher: Greet worshipers on Sunday morning; assist with special needs; collect Sunday offering; assist acolytes as needed.
Acolyte: Light altar candles at beginning of worship; extinguish candles during closing hymn
Greeters: Welcome worshipers at various locations Sunday morning. Assist newcomers in finding nursery, restrooms, etc; Hand out bulletins.
Create worship presentations on Powerpoint
Run slide show during worship
Altar Guild: prepare sanctuary with seasonal paraments, theme decorations, props, etc.
Communion Steward.
Communion server
